What you’ll need: Phone or GoPro, steady hand or tripod, good lighting,
waterproof case (swim only), suction cup mount (swim only)

SWIM
Capture 4 videos, each at a different angle (two above water, two underwater), 30 seconds each:
Underwater
1. Side view (This will capture the swimmer's body position, catch, stroke, hip position, kick, rotation and breathing pattern.)
2. Front view (This will capture the swimmer's catch and pull path of stroke, body rotation and head position.)
Above water
1. Side view (This will capture the swimmer’s stroke recovery, kick position, breathing form and entry.)
2. Front view (This will capture the swimmer’s symmetry of recovery, hand entry and lateral body movement.)
How to film Side View:
● Choose a side lane against the wall
● Position camera horizontally (landscape), with the widest capture angle possible (wide angle/fisheye setting is preferred)
● Mount/balance camera against the wall, halfway down the lane
● Underwater: place camera 6 to 8 inches below the water's surface (film should capture entire swimmer top to bottom and left to right while in center view)
● Above water: place camera 6 to 8 inches above the water's surface
● Swimmer should swim as far away from the camera as the lane allows and swim two full lengths past the camera (one in each direction)
How to film Front View:
● Choose a side lane against the wall
● Position camera vertically (portrait)
● Mount/balance camera in the center of the lane
● For underwater footage, place camera 6 to 8 inches below the water's surface
● For above water footage, place camera 6 to 8 inches above the water's surface
● Swimmer should swim directly in line with the camera's position and swim two full lengths (one in each direction)
If filming by yourself, we recommend utilizing the following gear:
- Waterproof camera such as a GoPro or waterproof case for a smartphone (like this one here)
- If pool has a smooth wall surface, use a suction cup mount (like this one here)
- If pool has a tiled surface, use a tripod placed in the water
